Altar Trekking — 4 Days with certified ASEGUIM & UIAGM guides. 4 Days / 3 Nights, max altitude 4,200m / 13,780 ft. Difficulty: Moderate-Difficult. Private transportation from Quito included.
Day 1
Drive from Quito to Riobamba. Continue to the Altar trailhead. Begin trek to first camp.
Day 2
Trek through cloud forest and paramo to the Altar amphitheater — a dramatic horseshoe-shaped collapsed caldera.
Day 3
Explore the Italian Lagoon and surrounding peaks. Optional scramble to viewpoints.
Day 4
Descend and return to Quito.
