Sumaco Volcano Trek – 3 Days / 2 Nights

Conquer the Sumaco Volcano (3,732 m), one of Ecuador's most remote and biodiverse trekking routes through primary Amazon cloud forest. A 3-day / 2-night expedition for adventurers seeking off-the-beaten-path Andean experiences. Includes private transport, certified guide, meals and refuge accommodation.
Day 1 Quito -> Pacto Sumaco -> Pava Yaku Refuge
Departure from Quito in private transport toward the village of Pacto Sumaco at 1,520 m. From there, an 8-9 hour hike through the cloud forest to Pava Yaku Refuge at 2,800 m, where we rest overnight.
Day 2 Summit Attempt - Sumaco 3,732 m
Wake up at 2:00-3:00 AM to begin our summit ascent. We arrive at the crater of Sumaco Volcano at 3,732 m around midday, where we enjoy panoramic views of the Amazon basin. We descend back to the refuge by 5:00 PM to rest.
Day 3 Descent to Pacto Sumaco -> Quito
Departure from the refuge at 5:00-6:00 AM. Descend to Pacto Sumaco, arriving around 3:00-4:00 PM. Return transport to Quito.
