We travel across the Panamericana Sur highway to Riobamba. Then we move to the Guargualla Chico community. We spend the first day travelling and organizing our horses and “arrieros” (muleteers) that will be with us in all the trip. We have dinner and accommodation at the camp.

DAY 1
DAY 2
Breakfast. We start a 6–7-hour hike at 9 a.m. to arrive at Rincón de las Escaleras. There will be our second camp. We have lunch and have a walk to Tambillo.
We have dinner and rest.
DAY 3
Breakfast. We start a 6–7-hour hike at 9 a.m. to arrive at Plazapamba where we set up our third camp, have dinner and rest.
DAY 4
After having breakfast, we start a 7-hour hike to arrive at Playas. Here, we set up our fourth camp, have lunch, dinner, and rest.
DAY 5
After breakfast, we go across a sandy path to a ridge where is possible to admire the greatness of the volcano. Without getting closer, we can observe and listen to the eruptions. Sometimes, the volcano is emitting ash and rocks. During the nights, the spectacle is alluring and unforgettable.
It is also possible to admire the East Andes range and its fauna. We descend, have dinner and rest in our camp.
DAY 6
We have breakfast and continue our hike from Playas to Plazapamba. We have dinner and rest.
DAY 7
