Ilinizas is an ancient volcano at the South of Quito. Around 5000 years ago, it was divided into two sections by a saddle. In this tour, we climb the North peak to an altitude of 5126 m / 16,818 ft. We depart from Quito at 7 a.m. in private transportation to La Virgen at 3900 m / 12,795 ft. From here, we walk around 6 hours to the Iliniza Norte summit. In case it is covered with snow we need crampons. Returning to our transportation in La Virgen takes around 3 hours. Then, we return to Quito.
